Keep Employees Warm This Winter using Plastic Curtains

Keep Employees Warm with Plastic Curtains
PVC Curtains

Many factories and industrial units need to keep a door open, to allow people, forklift trucks, deliveries and products to enter and leave easily and not all of these have Plastic Curtains to keep employees warm.

While this is a necessity for many, it can make the colder months an uncomfortable time for staff who need to work in a place which needs easy access.

In these unprecedented times of high fuel and electricity costs, you can probably do more for your workforce; easily and economically.

We provide a solution however, that retains heat even with roller shutters and doors open.

Plastic Strip Curtains help to protect workers against the cold during autumn and winter

Our Plastic Strip Curtains enable easy access through open doorways, whilst still retaining warmth inside the premises.

They do this by using easily accessible individual PVC strips, which hang from a rail above the opening. For easy passage, people can simply move the individual strips to the side when staff, drivers, forklift truck operators, and other visitors need to pass through them.

Types of PVC Strip Curtains to keep employees warm

We offer a variety of types of Plastic Strip Curtain that can be tailor-made  for your application.

Each type of PVC strip has its own benefits and uses, and are suited to different applications.

The main types and styles we supply are:

  • Super Clear Standard Grade – clear standard PVC strips which offer superb clarity and a good level of insulation, suitable for temperatures down to -10° C.
  • Freezer/Polar Grade – the perfect grade for very low temperatures – primarily, freezers, and any other exceptionally cold applications, where temperatures are below -10° C.
  • Ribbed/Bumper Grade – ribbed, sometimes referred to as bumper strips are designed for high traffic, heavy-usage areas, pallets, or areas where forklift trucks need access. We also offer these in polar grade.
  • Perforated PVC – this style is a fantastic grade to have in food preparation areas, kitchens, canteens and other workplaces which require airflow but must comply with food legislation or other standards.

What kind of hanging system shall I use for my door?

We offer a choice of two different hanging systems, hook-on or bolt-on to suit your application.

Hook-On

Our ‘Hook on’ system is mostly used for pedestrian, and light duty doorways, as it is a simple task to replace strips should you ever need to, plus cleaning the hook-on strips is made easier by the fact that they just “un-hook”.

Bolt-On

Our ‘Bolt-on’ system is usually used with heavier, thicker, wider grades of PVC as opposed to the thinner, narrower grades. It is designed for heavy duty use or very large opening. This style can overlap 50 or 100%

What type of PVC do I need for my PVC Curtains?

Internal doors with normal traffic in non-windy areas need a minimum strip width and thickness of 200mm x 2mm.

If this traffic includes FLT’s, then you should really increase the PVC strips width to 300mm and consider thicker PVC.

External and high openings require much thicker, heavier duty strips to maintain a good overlap and retain either warmth or chilled air. We would recommend, either 3mm or 4mm thick, in 300mm or 400mm widths. Alternatively, the ribbed grades provide additional weight, meaning they won’t move as much in external or windy areas.

If you want to use plastic strip curtains for cars or vehicles to pass through, take a look at our “Sliding System” here. This prevents vehicles getting scratched by the PVC.
